The oldest horse was appropriately named Old
Billy. He was a cross breed that was born in 1760 and he lived to
be 62.
The World's Largest Living Horse is a Shire mare
named Tina who lives in Tennessee. Tina measured at 20 hands when
she was just 3 years of age - which means she still had some growing
to do!
The World's Smallest Living Horse is a miniature
horse named Thumbelina. She is only 17.5 inches tall and weighs
just 57 pounds.
Most horse breeds have 18 ribs and the Arabian
has 17 ribs.
Horses can see in two directions at once. They
can also see everywhere, except directly in front or behind them.
Horses cannot throw-up.
A horse is generaly over 14.2 hh (hands high)
while a pony is considered anything under this height.
